A little about Zealandia Sanctuary (Waiapu Road, Karori, Wellington)
It’s hard to believe that an eco-sanctuary is located only ten minutes from the city centre and that you can hold your wedding ceremony, reception (or both) here. Best of all, since it’s non-profit you would be making a valuable contribution to the venue. A wedding at Zealandia is stress free since you’ll be provided a co-ordinator who has the expertise to turn your dream wedding into a reality.
Couples have three ceremony venue spaces to choose from—depending on the size and weather. There is the Heritage Lawn by the lake that’s surrounded by a forest and the historic valve tower and boat shed. For weddings with less than 70 and want a more private ceremony, there is the Round Lawn. Zealandia is also prepared for the unpredictable Wellington weather and has an indoor option in case of rain. The reception takes places in the Rata Cafe that can seat 100 guests and overlooks the aforementioned forest and lake.
The Rata Cafe chefs can prepare either a traditional buffet or a plated meal. Both offering the best local cuisine. There are four beverage options: consumption only, drink packages, BYO with a $14 corkage fee, or bar tab.
Pick from one of the four wedding packages that includes things like set up, canapes on the lawn, and hire both the lawn and Rata Cafe. The cheapest package starts from $89 per person to the highest at $139. Plus the onsite wedding ceremony fee of $400 that includes tables, chairs, and an hour of rehersal, if needed. At an additional cost, couples can hire the boat which makes for a great entrance for the bride and her bridesmaids. Only wanting a ceremony held here? No problem. Hire one of the lawns for $1,550.
