New Zealand weddings venues, photography from Wellington, kapiti coast and Hutt Valley.
The last stop before heading over the Rimutaka hills. Both the inside and the gardens outside are great for photography and no set of pictures is complete without a bridge shot, lovely even in the rain.
Lodge at Pauatahanui inlet
Having done many weddings at the lodge, one thing I can say is there are such a great variety of spots for pictures at the lodge. Within easy access of the inlet itself and Plimmerton beach.
Ohariu Farm wedding venue
Ohariu Farm is a little out of the way, but has a wealth of good locations for photos. The wedding ceremonies are held in front of beautiful rolling hills. The old woolshed and the gardens provide the perfect backdrops for all your great pictures of the big day.
Boomrock reception venue
Boom Rock is a lovely little intimate location for weddings. Accessible by a winding track and on the edge of the cliffs, this venue feels very remote.
If you have a small wedding this is a really a great location for a ceremony or reception, and for something a little different you can even arrive by helicopter.
Gear Homestead wedding venue
One of our favourite locations, the jewel of the area, with beautiful gardens and historic building, a true delight to take pictures at. You can book this place at very reasonable rates, but you might need to book early.
The Pines in Island bay
The Pines within easy walking distance of the beach and some great little spots for pictures has always been good for photography. With the addition of a chapel on site, this venue has everything in one place and is becoming a very popular choice.
Ruth Pretty wedding venue
Lovely countryside setting complete with white gazebo for your ceremony. Opposite the venue entrance is a beautiful little village church that can also be booked for ceremonies. The buildings themselves can cater to small wedding groups and the grounds are large enough for additional marquees for larger weddings. Ruth pretty has great food and lots of photo opportunities.
This venue can provide everything you need from ceremony to reception, with options for wedding ceremonies outside on the lawn or inside this historic house. The gazebo and fountain are favourite spot for pictures, while inside the sweeping wooden stairs are always popular for photos.
Te Papa weddings
The Icon restaurant provides good reception options and the Marae can be used for your ceremony. The museum offers a unique opportunity for pictures, not just the Marae, but many of the exhibits and rooms themselves make for interesting photos.
Zealandia wildlife sanctuary
The visitors centre offers a great place for the reception, with views out to the lake. There are two main outside areas for wedding ceremonies and a great option for the bride is to arrive by boat. The bridge and wheel house are great photo opportunities you shouldn’t miss if this is your chosen wedding venue.
Pencarrow lodge, Eastbourne.
A beautiful but remote location, needing a 30 minute drive along a dusty road to get there. Once there you have the benefit of fantastic views of Wellington harbour. Photo opportunities include the beach and lighthouse, along with the old wool shed and lake views.
We have done some great weddings at Erskine College.
Unfortunately the venue was closed in 2012 due to eathquake safety concerned, but hopefully it will re-open for business again.
The beautiful garden settings of Aotea Lagoon. Aotea lagoon has a wealth of opportunities for pictures, a beautiful secluded rose garden is accessible via a lovely pergola covered path. While the rest of the park can get busy in summer, there are lots of other places for great photos, walkways over water with fountains and interesting railway tracks.
Bernard Gardens has some beautiful gardens and photo location opportunities, we got some great images on this lovely spring day in the daffodil gardens.
Sudbury fields ceremony and reception venue
A great rural setting for weddings on the Kapiti Coast, the ceremony is usually held looking over the lush fields, photo and reception by the stables, lots of opportunities for pictures.
